LOCOMOTIVE FC REMAINS UNBEATEN IN 9 MATCHES AND HOLDING ONTO 1ST PLACE IN THEIR GROUP
Starting with a dominating 4-2 win over Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on August 8, El Paso Locomotive FC started a club-record undefeated streak of nine games. In that run, Los Locos have come away with wins against Switchbacks, Real Monarchs, New Mexico United, as well as serving San Antonio FC their first loss of the 2020 season. The current nine-game undefeated streak (7-0-2) ties with the club-record nine-game undefeated streak set in the inaugural 2019 season (6-0-3) from April 21 to June 15. Should Locomotive FC earn either a win or a draw against Switchbacks FC on Wednesday night, it will set a new club-record undefeated streak, as well being undefeated in the month of September after six games.
Lucky Fan is first to Win Casa Ford Lincoln’s Flatbed Challenge!
Locomotive Season Ticket Member Richard Garcia became the first and only winner of the Casa Flatbed Challenge during the Locomotive game on Saturday. After successfully kicking a soccer ball into the bed of a Ford-150 Raptor during halftime, Garcia was notified that he would be the recipient of a 12-month lease on a truck courtesy of Casa Ford! The Casa Flatbed Challenge has been played since the Locomotive inaugural season and Garcia became the first out of 21 contestants to successfully get the ball into the bed of the truck (15 in 2019, six in 2020).
LOCOMOTIVE FIGHT FOR FIRST CONTINUES
Following the scoreless draw against New Mexico United last Saturday, El Paso Locomotive’s fight to claim Group C continues. Splitting the points with their Derby del Rio Grande keeps Locomotive at the top of the table with four points and a chance to clinch a home playoff match with a draw or a win against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Should Locomotive seal a home playoff game, it will be their second in their two-year existence, having previously played the 2019 Western Conference Semifinals against Sacramento Republic at Southwest University Park. If the 2020 Western Conference Quarterfinals are hosted in the Sun City, it will see Locomotive FC take on the second-place finishers of Group D, Austin Bold FC or FC Tulsa.
